UIN Sunan Kalijaga Library Science Lecturers Present at the 10th I-LISS International Conference at UiTM Malaysia
Shah Alam, August 26, 2026 — A team of lecturers from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta took part in the 10th International Library and Information Science Society Conference (I-LISS 2026), held at Hotel UiTM Shah Alam, Malaysia, from August 26 to 28, 2026. The team included Marwiyah, S.Ag., S.S., M.LIS., Dr. Labibah, MLIS., Thoriq Tri Prabowo, M.IP., Ph.D., and Lilih Deva Martias, M.Sc.
At the conference, the team presented a study titled "A Comparative Analysis of Digital Literacy Competencies Among Generation Z Across Demographic Segments in Indonesia." The quantitative study surveyed 943 Generation Z respondents in Sleman Regency to measure their digital literacy skills. Overall, Gen Z digital literacy in the study area fell into the "Very Good" category, with a score of 3.3. This rating covered both technical skills and critical thinking.
The demographic analysis also found no significant difference in competency between men and women.
By age, senior high school students scored highest of all age groups. By location, Gen Z respondents in urban and suburban areas showed stronger skills than those in peripheral areas.
Separately, Dr. Thoriq presented a joint study with Jirarat Sitthiworachart and Kanyarat Sriwisathiyakun, researchers from KMITL in Thailand. The study is titled "From Needs to Design: A Peer Assessment Activity for Enhancing Digital Learning Wellbeing in LIS Curricula." It proposes a peer assessment model built on the Canvas LMS to improve students' skills and their digital learning wellbeing. Based on a survey of 900 students and review by five experts, the model was found to be effective and flexible, and it boosted students' motivation to learn.
The research was supported by the Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The faculty hopes that taking part in the conference will raise the global profile of UIN Sunan Kalijaga lecturers and expand their academic collaboration, especially in tackling digital literacy challenges on the way to the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.
