Library Science Program of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Strengthens Implementation of International Collaboration through Visit of Ufa University of Science and Technology Delegation, Russia

Yogyakarta, April 8, 2026 – The Library Science Study Program, Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences (FADIB), UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, welcomed an academic delegation from Ufa University of Science and Technology (UUST), Russia, as a follow-up to the implementation of international collaboration between the two institutions. This visit represents a concrete realization of the partnership that has been established, while also strengthening international academic networks in education, research, and the development of library science.

The UUST delegation, consisting of several lecturers and academic staff, participated in a series of activities at the Faculty of Adab and Cultural Sciences, including an official reception, visiting lectures, and visits to several study programs. One of the main agendas was an academic discussion with the Library Science Study Program held in the Faculty’s meeting room. The meeting was attended by the Head of the Library Science Study Program, M. Ainul Yaqin, M.Ed., Ph.D., the Program Secretary, and several faculty members.

The discussion was productive, addressing various strategic issues in the development of library science education in both countries. The two institutions exchanged experiences in areas such as Outcome-Based Education (OBE)-based curriculum development, digital transformation of libraries, information literacy, digital preservation, the utilization of Artificial Intelligence, and strengthening the role of libraries in supporting research, learning, and innovation.

In addition to academic exchanges, the meeting also resulted in a commitment to expand the implementation of collaboration through various joint programs, including collaborative research, international scientific publications, faculty and student exchanges, guest lectures, international seminars, and capacity building in the field of library and information science.

For the Library Science Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga, the visit of the UUST delegation marks an important milestone in strengthening the program’s internationalization efforts while opening broader opportunities for collaboration with overseas universities. Through more concrete implementation of this partnership, both institutions hope to produce sustainable academic programs and make meaningful contributions to the global development of library and information science.
