The 21st Cohort of the Library Science Program Hosts a Guest Lecture on “Becoming a Millennial Librarian”

The Library Science Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta once again held a guest lecture featuring Yusniah, M.A., a lecturer in the Library Science Program at UIN North Sumatra in Medan. The event took place on Friday, October 27, 2023, in Lecture Hall 408 of the Faculty of Literature and Cultural Studies at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. During the lecture, Yusniah, M.A., shared her experiences and knowledge on the topic “Becoming a Millennial Librarian.”

Focusing on the transformation of libraries in the digital age, Yusniah, M.A., discussed the challenges and opportunities faced by librarians today.

According to Yusniah, M.A., being a productive librarian in this digital era requires a deep understanding, particularly regarding the mastery of information and communication technology. Yusniah, M. A., also emphasized that librarians must be able to provide relevant and up-to-date information to meet the increasingly complex needs of users.

The lecture was attended by fifth-semester students in the International Class of the Library Science Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The participants were very enthusiastic about learning and understanding library transformation in the digital age. Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in direct discussion with Yusniah, M.A., regarding the challenges and expectations of being a millennial librarian.

This guest lecture, featuring Yusniah, M.A., on the topic “Becoming a Millennial Librarian,” is expected to provide a better understanding of the changing role of librarians in the digital age. This event is expected to inspire students to play an active role in developing libraries that are relevant and innovative in the future.
