Library Science Students from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Complete Their Field Experience at the Tun Abdul Razak Library, UiTM Malaysia
Six students from the Library Science Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta had the opportunity to participate in a Field Experience Program (PPL) at the Tun Abdul Razak Library, Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia. The program lasted for one month, from October 15 to November 12, 2024. The six students are Hanik Aulia Azhani, Kavina Bi’izzika, Salwa Merta Althifannida, Nabila Nur Azizah, Nihayatul Lu’lu’in Nihlah, and Laila Fitriatin Nur Khasanah.
This internship is part of the implementation of an international collaboration between UIN Sunan Kalijaga and UiTM Malaysia, specifically aimed at developing students’ competencies in library management. The Tun Abdul Razak Library, recognized as one of Malaysia’s leading libraries, provided the students with valuable insights and experience in understanding information systems, collection management, and digital services for users at the international level.
Throughout the program, students were involved in various activities such as digitizing collections, managing metadata, compiling information on researchers’ work, creating content to promote the library, and providing technology-based library services, including the implementation of modern applications in the library field. In addition, students also had full access to PTAR facilities throughout the program, including digital collections, advanced technology services, and international scholarly resources. It is hoped that this will broaden students’ horizons and enrich their academic references during their internship.
Through this program, it is hoped that collaboration between UIN Sunan Kalijaga and UiTM Malaysia will grow stronger and make a tangible contribution to the development of library and information science on the global stage.
