A Library Science Lecturer from UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta Speaks at the 12th I-LIPS Conference in India
The 12th International Library and Information Professional Summits (I-LIPS) was successfully held by the Galgotias University Library at Galgotias University in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, India, from November 29 to December 1, 2024. With the theme “Innovative Technologies in Librarianship: Challenges and Opportunities,” the conference featured a number of prominent speakers from various countries, including Emily Drabinski (Keynote Speaker, American Library Association), Dr. Leo Appleton (University of Sheffield, UK), Dr. Dilara Begum (East West University, Dhaka), and Dr. Saori Donkai (University of Tsukuba, Japan).
One of the representatives from Indonesia, Ms. Labibah Zain from the State Islamic University (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga in Yogyakarta, was also an invited speaker at this event. Through her presentation titled “Integrating SDG Programs through Inclusive Library Activities in an Academic Environment,” she explained how libraries in academic settings can support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through inclusive activities. In addition to contributing as a speaker, during the awards ceremony held on Friday, November 29, 2024, Ms. Labibah Zain received the “2024 Professional Excellence Award,” presented by the Society for Library Professionals and the Special Libraries Association (SLA) Asia Community.
But that’s not all: during the SLA Asia meeting held on the sidelines of the 12th I-LIPS main conference, it was officially announced that the 2025 International Conference of Asian Special Libraries (ICoASL) will be held in Lucknow, India. Meanwhile, Indonesia will host the ICoASL in 2027.
