In Preparation for the End-of-Semester Exams, the Library Science Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Holds a Public Lecture on Serial Publications and Quantitative Research
Held at the Theater of the Faculty of Literature and Cultural Studies at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, the public lecture for fourth-semester students—hosted by Anisa Rahayu—took place in two sessions. The event, which lasted approximately four hours, proceeded smoothly and featured guest lecturers from two different fields of study.
The first session, which focused on serial publications, was led by Faisal Syarifudin, S.Ag. S.S., M.Si., served as moderator and introduced Siti Wahdah, S.IP., M.IP., as the guest lecturer. She is from Antasari State Islamic University in Banjarmasin and serves as the editor-in-chief of the Scientific Journal of Library and Information Science: Jurnal Pustaka Karya, published by UIN Antasari Banjarmasin. The second session, moderated by Lilih Deva Martias, M.Sc., featured Vemmie Nastiti Lestari, S.Si., M.Sc., a guest lecturer from Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, who discussed quantitative research.
On this occasion, Siti Wahdah, S.IP, M.IP, shared the story of her journey with the team regarding the management process of the *Pustaka Karya* journal at the Antasari State Islamic University in Banjarmasin, from its early days to its current achievement of Sinta 4 accreditation. *Pustaka Karya: Scientific Journal of Library and Information Science* is a national multidisciplinary journal that addresses key issues in the field of library and information science. It is managed by the Department of Islamic Library and Information Science at Antasari State Islamic University in Banjarmasin and is published twice a year (in June and December).
Siti Wahdah, S.IP, M.IP, explained that during its early stages, the journal’s editorial team faced various challenges, including financial constraints for journal development and a limited number of submitted articles for publication. However, the consistency and commitment of the Pustaka Karya editorial team eventually paid off, as the journal successfully achieved Sinta 4 accreditation from the National Accreditation Agency. At the end of her session, Siti Wahdah, S.IP, M.IP, also shared tips on what a journal institution needs to prepare if it wishes to pursue accreditation from the National Accreditation Agency.
After the first session ended, the event continued with the second session featuring Vemmie Nastiti Lestari, S.Si., M.Sc., who discussed quantitative research.
During the event, Vemmie Nastiti Lestari, S.Si., M.Sc., shared various interesting facts about quantitative research. After the presentation, the students were very enthusiastic about asking questions regarding some of the challenges they faced while conducting quantitative research. At the end of the session, Vemmie Nastiti Lestari, S.Si., M.Sc., also provided several tips for students currently conducting quantitative research.
