Bi-Weekly Forum #45: Exploring New Roles for Librarians Through Bibliometric Analysis
The Library Science Study Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta held its 45th Bi-Weekly Forum. The event took place on Friday, October 6, 2023, via the Zoom platform.
The event was moderated by Lilih Deva Martias, M.Sc., with Dr. Irvan Muliyadi, M.LIS., serving as the guest speaker.
In addition, the event was attended by the Head of the Library Science Program at the Faculty of Adab and Cultural Studies, Prof. Dr. Nurdin, S.Ag., S.S., M.A., as well as faculty members and students from the Library Science Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, and was open to the public.
On that occasion, Dr. Irvan Muliyadi, M.LIS, stated that librarians—particularly academic librarians at universities—need to further explore the roles librarians play in bibliometric research. This is important to support the needs of library users at university libraries, specifically their need for references in research. In addition, Dr. Irvan Muliyadi, M.LIS, also emphasized that bibliometric studies should be introduced to students as early as the undergraduate level, so that students are better prepared for their future careers as librarians.
It is hoped that through this activity, both the Library Science Program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga and those at other universities can begin incorporating bibliometric studies into their course curricula.
